December Project Updates: Stockpile 1 - We have had a tremendous month excavating, trucking, and stockpiling over 57,000 CY of clay material from the Bonnet Carre' Spillway borrow pit to the designated location in LaPlace. This quantity of material far exceeds what we have ever hauled in one month and bodes well for our schedule. We have recently run into large sand strata that is not allowed in the stockpile so we will have to remove them and dispose of them in the designated location in the spillway before we can start hauling clay again. This project should be completed in the summer of 2023, with any weather delays extending that time.
Stockpile 2 - This project is completed and closed out. Our first project as a Civil Construction Contractor.Myrtle Grove Levee and Canal - This project continues to see rapid production in canal excavation, Access Road construction, sand placement, development of pre-load areas where structures will be built, and just recently, the beginning of levee construction. So far, we have built over 4 miles of Access Roads using 25,000 Cubic yards of sand, 17,000 Cubic yards of surfacing rock, and 650,000 Square Feet of separator Fabric. We have excavated the areas for the pre-loads, installed over 37,000 cubic yards of sand in that excavation, and installed 1.7M LF of wick drains to facilitate settlement before the structures are built. We have excavated over 215,000 cubic yards of material for the new drainage canal, placed over 110 cubic yards of levee clay, and installed 60,000 square yards of reinforcement fabric for the levee. This project is on schedule to be completed in the summer of 2025, but some known change orders will likely extend that date by several months.
