Myrtle Grove Project - December to May Progress Report

Greenup Industries continues to Excel in USACE Myrtle Grove Levee and Drainage Canal and
Hurricane Protection Project.

May Update
As the weather improves, we continue to accelerate our production on this flood risk reduction project for Plaquemines Parish. To date, we have compacted over 1.4 million Cubic Yards of clay for earthen levee, 14,000 square feet of sheet pile for cutoff protection, and 20,000 linear feet of pipe piles for stability of structures.
In addition, we had our first concrete placement of 120 cubic yards for the base slab on drainage
structure #1. We continue to be ahead of the required completion date of late summer 202

April Update

The 300 CY Rebar & Form Inspection was successful. The concrete pour is scheduled for April 12.

March Update

Despite the weather, we have continued to press ahead on this critical risk reduction project for the people of Plaquemines Parish.

Old Mother Nature has been trying her best to slow this critical Hurricane Risk Reduction project with rain and snow, but we keep pushing forward. Clearing vegetation and excavation of the drainage canal are nearly complete. Levee construction has progressed nicely, with over 1.3 million cubic yards (CY) of clay material placed and compacted, supported by almost 100,000 square yards (SY) of reinforcement geo-textile.

We have also made good progress in the pile-driving portion of this project, having driven 1,000 Linear Feet (LF) of steel pipe piles and 34,000 Square Feet (SF) of sheet piles. This project remains ahead of the current required completion date of late summer 2026.

Jan Update

The weather turned to winter, making the levee construction difficult. However, this critical project to reduce flood risks for Plaquemines Parish is progressing well.  So far, we have cleared vegetation for over 95% of the levee and canal footprint.  Over 240,000 CY (Cubic Yards) of drainage canals have been constructed, more than 1.25 million CY of levee has been constructed utilizing over 270,000 SY (Square Yards) of reinforcement fabrics to increase stability, more than 40,000 LF (Linear Feet) of steel pipe piles have been driven for drainage structures along with over 850 SF (Square Feet) of steel sheet piles for seepage cutoff.  This project is ahead of schedule; the completion date is late August of 2026, but weather will impact that schedule.

December Update

Good progress for the project. We are near completion with pile driving at South Utility, which was completed by December 17

The drainage structure at the project's South end only has one more section for pipe pile DS-6; we will have excavation completed by December 19. The latest section, DS-11, will be completed this week.
